Bronze Age

All eyes are cast on this metal—a shimmery shade that’s perfect for summer

INSIDER TIP: Dark eyeliner close to the lash line is key. You want to look like “you’re wearing bronze shadow—not like your eyes are irritated,” says Stila founder Jeanine Lobell.

COLOR CODE: If you’re pale, opt for a gold or pink bronze. If your skin is dark, choose copper or orange hues.

GET NATALIE PORTMAN‘S LOOK: “I used Sun, a gold Stila shadow, as a base,” adds Lobell. “Then a coppery color, Ray, on her lids, and liner.”

Behind the Seams

Alanis Morissette had a new album, a new haircut and a new glam-gone-wrong gown at the N.Y.C. premiere of De-Lovely. Usually, three’s the charm. Isn’t it ironic?

RHINESTONE COWGIRLS: If Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are invited to a hoedown, they’ll be prepared to do the two-step in style. The Simple Life 2 stars got pink Texas Tiara rhinestone cowboy hats to take on the road for the second season of the series. And the costumer for Miss Congeniality 2 requested a red one for the film’s star, Sandra Bullock. Think less rodeo and more Rodeo Drive….

BIRTHDAY GIRL: Here’s a sign that this star is not only gorgeous, she’s thoughtful too. Nicole Kidman bought 36 Gamine tanks (three for each month of the year) featuring the signs of the zodiac. She likes to have them on hand to give out as impromptu gifts. Aren’t those Geminis clever….

RING TRUE: Dennis Quaid bought his fiancée Kimberly Buffington’s three-carat yellow canary diamond in Africa but is having her engagement ring and their bands made stateside by baublers-to-the-stars, Austin-based Anthony Nak. “They are the new wave of jewelry designers,” says Quaid. “Cool, funky, yet classic.”…

Anthony Nak’s sketch shows a canary diamond for Quaid, too, on the inside of his band.

SCENT OF A WOMAN: When Tommy Hilfiger signed Beyoncé as the face of his new fragrance, True Star, it was a deal six years in the making. Not really, but “I met her when she was 16,” said Hilfiger at the perfume’s London launch party. “And I knew then she was going to be a star.” The rest is history—even for Beyoncé: “It’s historical for me. There aren’t many black women in the world who can say they have their own fragrance.”

True Star, $60 for 3.4 oz; available in September.

Trend of the Week

How low can they go? The thigh’s the limit. Low-slung hip belts have been popular since the ’60s and are, well, hip today because they flatter so many styles—hippie chic like Kate Hudson or rocker chick like The O.C.’s Rachel Bilson. Buckle up—it’s a sexy, casual look that’s here to stay.

…or at least the reigning queen of all things stylish—Sarah Jessica Parker, who just bought herself a Marcella Korshak-designed princess necklace in Peruvian opal. The delicate, one-of-a-kind creations also dangle from the necks of Charlize Theron, Christina Aguilera and Salma Hayek.

Quick Change Artist

She’s an indie actress known for funky fashion, so we can’t explain Maggie Gyllenhaal’s recent foray into First Lady wear. But the next day she elected to go. back to her usual style.
