Glenn Close (right) and Sharon Stone welcomed a few of their favorite Martians (and you thought movie stars had big heads) at a party in Los Angeles celebrating the premiere of Mars Attacks!—director Tim Burton’s sci-fi movie send-up. In the comedy, Close portrays the First Lady to Jack Nicholson’s President.

Dressed in a shimmering Anna Sui gown, earth angel Andie MacDowell winged her way to the New York City opening of her romantic comedy Michael, which soared to the No. 1 spot at the box office after its first weekend. John Travolta stars in the title role as a womanizing, wisecracking, beer-drinking archangel with a less-than-celestial body.

Animal activist Alec Baldwin shared a few secrets with his missus, Kim Basinger, before the crusading couple hosted the PETA Humanitarian Awards, an L.A. gala where the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization honored Linda and Paul McCartney. Baldwin is currently starring in the movie drama Ghosts of Mississippi.

Jennie Eisenhower, 18, flanked by her parents, David Eisenhower and Julie Nixon Eisenhower, was presented at the International Debutante Ball in New York City. “My mother was a debutante at the same ball 30 years ago,” says Jennie, “and there’s a picture of her in the program. Our hairdos look the same. Our dresses look the same. It’s really weird.”

One Fine Day’s kidlet stars Mae Whitman (far left) and Alex D. Linz staged one fine fight for shutterbugs at the L.A. premiere of their movie, a romantic comedy with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. At the same event, Pfeiffer got right to the point with her husband, producer-writer David E. Kelley.

Monaco’s Prince Albert, his sister Princess Caroline and the entire royal family soaked up some rays in sunny Jamaica over the holidays. Caroline, whose hair has begun to grow back following an attack last fall of alopecia, a skin disorder, turns 40 on Jan. 23.

Party of Five’s Neve Campbell (above) led the Scream team at the premiere bash for the thriller in L.A. Campbell plays a suburban high schooler stalked by a sociopath in the movie, directed by horrormeister Wes Craven. Others who packed into the party included (clockwise, from below) Scream costars David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette, actor Ashley Hamilton (his new daytime soap Sunset Beach starts this week on NBC) with his new wife, model Angie Everhart, and Friends’ Jennifer Aniston, who cozied up with her best friend, actor Tate Donovan (Partners).
