Mother goes best: Julia Roberts brought her mom, acting teacher Betty Motes, along to the L.A. premiere of the movie Benny & Joon, a quirky love story starring Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson.

Thirtysomething‘s Melanic Mayron, apparently having a really bad hair day, spoke at a concert benefiting the Pediatric AIDS Foundation in L.A. She has written, directed and stars in the May 4 episode of Fox’s new Tribeca series.

A hog-wild Keanu Reeves drove his motorcycle to the Independent Spirit Awards, which honor films by independent producers, in Santa Monica. Keeves was there to present a Best Supporting Actor Award to Steve Buscemi for his performance in Reservoir Dogs.

Just folk: Bill Murray got slaphappy with self-described “folkabilly” singer Nanci Griffth at a party following her concert in Manhattan. Griffith is currently touring the country to promote her new all-folk album, Other Voices, Other Rooms.

Watch out, Arnold, Bridget Fonda‘s pumped up! La femme Fonda flexed her movie muscle at a screening of This Boy’s Life, a new drama, in L.A. Fonda’s rock ’em, sock ’em action-adventure film, Point of No Return, was No. 3 at the box office last week.
