Let others look to Laura Ashley. When it came time to build their dream house, Sandra and Chuck McKee channeled The Munsters. Two years and $250,000 later, their: Victorian munstrosity outside Waxahachie, Texas, is well on its way, constructed from plans drawn up by the couple after countless viewings of the spooky ’60s sitcom.

“Lily Munsters is 5’4 and I’m 5’3,” says Sandra, 46, a retired insurance broker (Chuck, 48, runs a plumbing business), “so if she took seven steps to the staircase, I’d walk it, and that’s how far it would be.” Just as in the show, there’s a stairway that opens to reveal a fire-breathing dragon, a secret passage way and, yes, a dungeon. Sandra, however; nixed the coffin phone. “Too eerie for,” me she says.

This Halloween, like last, the couple will host a fund-raiser for a children’s charity. Last year’s bash was attended by AI Lewis, who played Grandpa on the show. “When I got out of the car, it all flashed back,” says Lewis, how 93. In fact Grandpa was so moved he got all teary. “And that,” says Sandra, “meant more to me than anything in the world.”
