CAMERON DIAZ & BENJI MADDEN
INSIDE THEIR SECRET WEDDING!
UNDER A CANDLELIT tent in the lush backyard of their Beverly Hills home, Cameron Diaz, 42, and Benji Madden, 35, made it official on Jan. 5, swapping vows less than a month after getting engaged. “We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends,” the couple told People exclusively through the actress’s rep. Helping celebrate their new union: Madden’s brother Joel and his wife, Nicole Richie (their son Sparrow, 5, was a ring bearer), and longtime pals including Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore, who was a bridesmaid along with Richie. Despite the star-studded guest list, “it all felt very down to earth and sweet,” says a source. “It was a big wedding but still managed to feel personal. Everyone was excited to be a part of it.”
The night before the ceremony, the couple hosted an intimate rehearsal dinner at their house. And on Jan. 3 they dined with a small group at Il Cielo restaurant, where “they had a romantic table with rose petals and candles,” says a restaurant source. “They were celebrating.”
Designed by celebrity planners Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove, the wedding caps off a whirlwind romance that began last spring before the couple moved in together in August. “Benji adores Cameron,” says a friend. “And she can be herself with him.” Adds a Diaz source: “When you see them together you can see how happy they are. Cameron has found true happiness.”
TERESA GIUDICE GOES TO PRISON
HER NEW REALITY
As she started her prison sentence on Jan. 5, Teresa Giudice’s last words as a free woman were, “I’ll be fine. Tell Joe and the girls I’m good.” With that, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star, 42, surrendered to authorities at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., where she will serve a 15-month sentence for bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. Clutching rosary beads in her hands, she “was very stoic,” says her lawyer James J. Leonard Jr. Indeed, the days ahead will be sobering: After a 6 a.m. wake-up call, she will start her assigned job (which can range from dish-washing to bathroom cleaning and landscaping). She is allotted 300 minutes of phone calls per month, but each is limited to 15 minutes. One comfort? Visits from her family, including husband Joe, 44, and their daughters Gia, 14, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5. (Joe—who was sentenced to 41 months for multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud—will serve his prison term after her release.) “Her kids are her No. 1 priority,” says Leonard Jr., who adds that he’s not worried about his client. “She’s strong. She told me, ‘I know I’m going to get through this.'”
JENNIFER LAWRENCE & CHRIS MARTIN
ROUND 2 FOR THEIR ROMANCE
Seems like their uncoupling didn’t stick: Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin are giving their relationship another go. Enjoying a quiet dinner on Dec. 30 at Kiwami sushi restaurant in L.A., the two were “engulfed in their little world of conversation,” a fellow diner tells PEOPLE. “He was a good listener and really listening to what she was saying. They seemed to be just content with each other.” The couple, who began quietly dating last August and broke it off in October, have been spending more time together as their schedules allow, says a source close to Martin, 37. “Even though they are both busy, the relationship is solid,” the insider adds. “They see each other when they can.” (Reps for the couple did not respond for comment.) So why the change of heart? While a source says Lawrence, 24, had seen Martin’s friendliness with ex Gwyneth Paltrow as an obstacle, another insider says the actress has accepted the Coldplay singer’s family life, which includes being an active dad to daughter Apple, 10, and son Moses, 8. “Jennifer understands that the children come first with Chris and that his relationship with Gwyneth is based around the family and will always be a part of his life,” the source says. “Things are good between them.”
LOST 50 LBS.
What made you decide to go back to Jenny Craig in April?
I had just made the decision to start acting again, and I thought, “What do you want to look like as an actress?” Plus, I strive for ease—and when I have weight on me, things aren’t easy. I have to put on the right thing, wear more makeup and pay attention to my hair. But when I’m at a weight that I want to be, everything looks okay!
You were on Jenny Craig from 2004 to 2007 and lost 75 lbs. How much did you lose this time?
Fifty! I set out to lose 30, but I hit this place where I felt really energetic and agile. I wanted to keep going, so I did.
How do you feel about your body now?
My friends will text me group photos of us, and I’m just waiting for that “Do I still look fat?” moment. And in the last month I’ve been like, this is good! I’m in the safe zone!
You have a history of yo-yo dieting. What are you doing differently now?
I looked at the things that worked for me in the past and asked which ones I could incorporate for the rest of my life. I’m just trying to make it fun.
What are you most looking forward to in 2015?
I want to start doing movies that I’m in love with. I don’t care if they’re indie or big features. I’m going to concentrate on the things that I love: my children, my career and having a blast.
What’s Working This Time
“I ride over to my friends’ houses and bribe them to ride bikes with me. I’ll say, ‘Let’s ride to this restaurant—I’ll pay!’ ”
A fresh mind-set
“I started to look at myself more as an athlete. I try to stay in motion.”
“Jenny Craig’s chicken fettuccine and brownies handle my cravings. You just have to get used to the portions.”

Harry Connick Jr.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for New Orleans. When I was 7, I’d go down to Bourbon St. and jam with people who were around when jazz was invented.”
“There’s a heart, drive and fight in the Bronx. I took that with me when I got in front of the camera.”
“I grew up in Australia, but I’ve spent half my life in Nashville. It’s had an amazing impact and upped my musicianship.”
THE NEW DUGGARS?
MEET THE BATES FAMILY
Gil Bates, 50, and his wife, Kelly Jo, 48, have a lot in common with their friends, 19 Kids and Counting‘s the Duggars: Both devoutly Christian families have 19 children and have appeared on TLC reality shows. People takes a closer look at these large families as the Bates clan branches out with Bringing Up Bates (Thursdays, 9 p.m. ET on UPtv), which Gil hopes will help viewers “find faith that if we can do it with 19 kids, they can do it with 2.”
E L JAMES
LIFE AFTER FIFTY SHADES OF GREY
What was it like working on the film adaptation (out Feb. 13)?
It was a painful process working out which details to omit. But we’ve done our best to capture the book’s spirit.
What inspired you to create wines based on the novels?
Christian Grey likes his wine— and readers wanted to know more about the wines he enjoyed.
Will your next book be as sexy?
It will be as romantic. That said, when people fall in love, a certain amount of friskiness inevitably follows!
