THE TRUTH ABOUT KATIE & JAMIE
WHAT EXACTLY IS going on between Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx? Rumors have long swirled of a romance between the two stars—and now multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE that the two have indeed been spending time together for over a year … though it’s nothing serious. “This is not some intense romance,” says a source with knowledge of the situation. “Jamie and Katie are friends and have been for a long time. They are two adults who are attractive and single, and so apparently conclusions will be drawn. But contrary to those conclusions, they’re not about to run off and make some serious commitment.”
Since Holmes, 36, moved from New York City (where she continues to have a residence) to the Los Angeles area last summer with daughter Suri, 8, another insider says she’s been spotted visiting Foxx, 47, “often” at his home a short drive away from hers, and they “spend hours together” at a time. But don’t expect their quiet get-togethers to lead to more. Adds a Foxx source: “[They] see each other and go out together, but Jamie would tell you he is not involved with anyone seriously. [He]’s a workaholic and couldn’t be happier in his life as it is.”
The pair, of course, go way back: Foxx starred with Holmes’s then-husband Tom Cruise in Collateral in 2004. Then, a year after Holmes’s divorce, rumors that she and Foxx were getting cozy flew after they jumped onstage to dance at a Hamptons charity bash in August 2013. Foxx later denied they were an item, telling Entertainment Tonight, “It’s quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people.”
Neither Holmes nor Foxx has dated anyone publicly in recent years. Foxx – who’s about to start production on two films – has notably brought his daughters Corinne, 21, and Anelise, 6, as his dates to award shows. “I always wanted to be married, 2.5 kids, wood paneling on the side of the station wagon, but … you get your heart broken one good time, especially for a man, it’s catastrophic,” he told Oprah Winfrey in 2012. And Holmes has been focusing on raising Suri and revving up her career: She’s busy filming an arc on Showtime’s Ray Donovan and stars in the movies Mania Days, which just premiered at the SXSW festival in Austin, and Woman in Gold, in theaters April 3. As for a serious romance with someone eventually? Holmes told PEOPLE last November that she “absolutely” still believes in love, adding: “I’m a very loving person. Of course I’m open to finding love again.”
FASHION POLICE THE DRAMA CONTINUES
It couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time. While the E! staffers were busy celebrating their new scripted series The Royals, comedian Kathy Griffin took to Twitter to abruptly declare she had quit Fashion Police. “She knew they’d be busy,” an E! source tells PEOPLE of the March 12 tweet, which came just two weeks after Kelly Osbourne announced she was leaving the show. Griffin tweeted that she no longer wants to “contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference”—the last part a possible reference to cohost Giuliana Rancic’s joke, which many found racially insensitive, regarding the dreadlocks 18-year-old Zendaya Coleman wore at the Oscars. “I don’t really feel [Fashion Police] was my best work,” Griffin told Sirius XM host Howard Stern on March 16. “I probably shouldn’t have taken the gig.” And she is not alone in those feelings. “Kathy was not loved,” says a show insider, who adds that Griffin was “not exactly cooperative.” But things could have been worse: “[The producers] actually said, ‘If you want, you can clean house,’ ” she told Stern. “[But] I wasn’t looking to put anybody out of work.”
Despite the drama, E! has confirmed that the show will return with Rancic and cohost Brad Goreski. The network has declined to speculate who might fill the empty seats, but a source says there has been talk of rotating in guest hosts until permanent replacements are found.
WORD ASSOCIATION WITH TAYLOR LAUTNER
THE FORMER TWILIGHT ACTOR, 23 – WHO’S NOW STARRING IN THE ACTION FILM TRACERS – TAKES A MINUTE TO FREE-ASSOCIATE WITH PEOPLE:
I grew up imagining meeting her. Then I was seated next to her at the Super Bowl a few years ago. She said “Hi,” but I was too nervous to say anything back. I probably came across as really rude. We made up on the set of Valentine’s Day, though!
I’m filming in Santa Fe, and there are so many mice around my house. I go to bed every night afraid that a mouse is going to sleep with me.
I take great pride in keeping secrets. Being loyal is one of the most important things to me in any relationship.
I’m really close with my family. They’re extremely important to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
I’m a big gift-giver. I start listening to Christmas music and making a list of gifts I want to get each person before Halloween has even happened.
LIFE AFTER THE BACHELOR
The Bachelor‘s Chris Soules went to great lengths to ensure that his new fiancée, Whitney Bischoff, was willing to live in his small hometown, but that big move to Arlington, Iowa, will have to wait. As Soules, 33, competes with dance pro Witney Carson on Dancing with the Stars, Bischoff, 29, told PEOPLE she is happy to commute from Chicago – where she works as a nurse – to Los Angeles. “I think it will be a good transition for us to start our journey together in L.A. It’s just so nice to be together finally.” And while they’re still learning each other’s quirks, Soules is clear on what he’s looking forward to most: “Building a family together is probably No. 1.”
ONE to WATCH
The 33-year-old may play a fearless zombie fighter on The Walking Dead, but offscreen she’s decidely less brave. “I’m a huge scaredy-cat,” she admits. “I definitely don’t go out of my way to watch scary films or TV!” Although she spent her early life in New Jersey and her teens in England, Cohan has no trouble slipping into a southern drawl to play Maggie. “Weirdly it’s the easiest American accent for me to do,” she says. “I find my own accent from when I was a kid difficult to re-create!”
3 TRUTHS & 1 LIE
CAN YOU SPOT THE FIB FROM BRAVO’S RYAN SERHANT, WHO APPEARS IN THE FILM WHILE WE’RE YOUNG?
1 He was a soap actor before Million Dollar Listing NY.
“I was a young bio-chemist prodigy on As the World Turns until the writers’ strike hit. Then I killed everybody and took a syringe to the heart.”
2 He just bought a new apartment.
“I like space, a luxury in New York. I walked into this apartment and the living room was huge. And it had outdoor space. That’s exactly what I wanted.”
3 He’s a huge romantic.
“When I proposed to my girlfriend [Emilia Bechrakis], I shut down Times Square for one hour and got an orchestra to play. She immediately went into panic mode.”
4 Acrobatics have always been a strong suit: “I can do a backflip!”
4. “I’m kind of uncoordinated. I’m 6’3″ – the longest, lankiest guy ever,” says Serhant.
KELLY ROWLAND MEET MY BABY BOY!
Titan Jewell Weatherspoon
BORN: Nov. 4, 2014
Given his mama’s award-winning pipes, it’s no surprise that Titan Jewell – the 4-month-old son of Kelly Rowland and her manager husband, Tim Weatherspoon – is already showing off his musical side. “He absolutely loves music and likes when we dance and sing with him,” Rowland tells PEOPLE. “He just giggles so much.” In fact, Titan’s cheerful personality has helped the singer find some much-needed joy after the unexpected death of her mother last December. “When Titan laughed for the first time, I cried,” says the former Destiny’s Child star, 34. “It was the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard.” Being a new mom also made her realize that “the time for B.S. is slim to none! It’s toxic, and I don’t want it around my baby.” Luckily the parents (who wed last year) are surrounded by their supportive extended family and friends –including former bandmates Michelle Williams (who introduced the couple) and Beyoncé. As for the inevitable sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, Rowland and Weatherspoon, 41, are tackling them as a team. “I have to say, whatever ‘baby challenge’ you put in front of Tim, he passes it with flying colors,” says Rowland. And no doubt the proud mom—who is in the studio now working on new music—is happy to sing Titan to sleep each night. “I love putting him to bed,” she says. “I’ve gotten so good at it!”
