CHARLIZE THERON & SEAN PENN
He took her to Hawaii and got rid of his gun collection for her. But the true sign that Sean Penn, 53, is very serious about his new romance with Charlize Theron, 38 – and that she’s just as serious about him—is how hard he’s trying to impress the other man in her life: her 2-year-old son Jackson. “She only introduced Sean to Jackson after she felt their relationship was serious enough,” says a source close to the actress. In the last few weeks, Penn moved into Theron’s Hollywood Hills home so Jackson could “stay in his own room and have the same routine,” says the source. “Jackson takes a while to warm up to strangers. But Sean has been great with him, and very patient. Charlize has been very impressed with his efforts to get to know him. Sean and Jackson are still getting to know each other, but now they’re acting like a cute family.”
Penn – a father to daughter Dylan, 22, and son Hopper, 20, from his marriage to Robin Wright, 47 – has been doing his best to get Jackson on his side, including making goofy faces for the nonplussed toddler during a recent shopping trip to Whole Foods. “It was adorable to watch how sweet he was with him,” says an eyewitness.
It’s not just his charm around children that has won over Theron, who hasn’t been in a serious relationship since her split from longtime beau Stuart Townsend in 2010. “She thinks Sean is very special,” says the source close to Theron. “He makes her laugh, and she likes that he is involved with politics and that they can have educated discussions about world problems.” The feeling is apparently mutual. “She has Sean wrapped around her finger,” the source says. “It seems they are in it for the long haul.”
SPLIT FROM HER BODYGUARD
They were spotted holding hands in Santa Monica just a month ago, but sources say that supermodel-mogul Heidi Klum, 40, has said auf Wiedersehen to Martin Kirsten, 41, her bodyguard turned boyfriend of a year and a half. “Life is about timing. They still have a great friendship, but they’re moving on now,” a source close to Klum tells People. Klum and the South African bodyguard first got together in 2012, several months after she announced she was divorcing Seal, 50, her husband of nearly seven years. Kirsten is “a great man,” she told Katie Couric at the time. “I trust him with my children’s life.” Kirsten “really was her savior during that tough time,” says a friend. “But he was controlling in his own way in his effort to protect her.” Now someone else will watch over Klum and kids Leni, 9, Henry, 8, Johan, 7, and Lou, 4: Klum and Kirsten “will no longer be working together,” says the source.
ABC NEWS’S ELIZABETH VARGAS
‘I’M AN ALCOHOLIC’
On Jan. 24 ABC News 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas, 51, returned to Good Morning America and calmly answered the question she had once feared most. “You’re an alcoholic?” asked cohost George Stephanopoulos. “I am,” she said. “It took me a long time to admit that to myself.” Vargas, who recently completed 28 days in rehab, said that admitting her problem at first made her feel like “a failure.” The mom of two (Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 7, with husband Marc Cohn, 54) also revealed how Zachary “used to call my nightly glass of wine ‘Mommy’s juice’ “- a phrase she found comical, then more troubling in retrospect as her drinking escalated. Now she’s feeling liberated. “Elizabeth seems free,” says her friend and fellow ABC anchor David Muir. “She told me she can’t believe how many people have quietly come up to her to tell her they too have a loved one battling the same thing. It was never her intention, but she’s already given others a tremendous gift.”

MY LIFE AFTER CORY
For the most part, Lea Michele, 27, has been tight-lipped about the heartache of losing boyfriend and Glee costar Cory Monteith, 31, from an accidental drug overdose last July. But the actress opens up for the first time about their “insane love” in the March issue of Teen Vogue. “My relationship with Cory made me feel like I could reach for the stars and more,” says Michele, recounting how he encouraged her during the recording of her upcoming debut album, Louder. “He would be like, ‘You’re going to be a pop star!’ ” Michele adds that Monteith’s legacy continues to drive her, despite the pain: “There’s just something about knowing he’s watching everything I’m doing and feeling like I have to do everything now not just for me but for him.”
“I was so unbelievably happy,” Michele says of her time with Monteith.
