THE JACKSONS INSIDE THE FAMILY FEUD
Are members of the Jackson family keeping matriarch Katherine, 82, from Michael’s kids? After having no communication with her guardian grandmother for more than a week, Michael’s daughter Paris, 14, tweeted on July 24: “9 days and counting … so help me god i will make whoever did this pay.” This may mean war with her own aunts and uncles. “She’s mad at them,” confirms an insider. The high drama began to publicly unfold on July 17, after a letter to the executors of the King of Pop’s estate (reportedly worth $1 billion), signed by five of his siblings, appeared online. In it they claim his will-which only provided for Michael’s mother and three children-is fake and demand the executors resign (a court has certified the will is legitimate). They also express concerns over the influence of people in Katherine’s life, including their cousin Trent, 47, who lives at her Calabasas, Calif., mansion along with Paris and her brothers Prince, 15, and Blanket, 10. According to an insider, “When the brothers and sisters try to contact Katherine, they’ve had to go through Trent. They’re not happy about that.” While Michael’s siblings want to replace the executors-and limit Trent’s influence on their mother, who is involved in financial decisions of the estate-Katherine and Paris, says the insider, fear that if the family upsets the current executors, Paris and her brothers “could be taken away” from Katherine, who has raised them since Michael’s 2009 death.
After Katherine didn’t return from a trip to New Mexico (where her sons performed July 15) or even call home, say sources, Trent filed a missing persons report on July 21. It turns out she was in Arizona with daughter Rebbie, 62, recovering from what her family says was a “mini stroke.” Two days later, when Jermaine, 57, and Janet, 46, tried to pick up the kids to bring them to Arizona, “Trent and security wouldn’t let them leave,” says the insider; they want Katherine to come home instead. Police were called but made no arrests.
In light of the events, the executors issued a statement saying they want to protect Katherine and the children from “undue influences, bullying [and] greed.” Says the insider: “It’s a family that’s starting to fall apart.”
“The whole house is divided,” says an insider. (Right) Siblings Jermaine, Janet and Randy; (below) cousin Trent, a nephew of family patriarch Joe Jackson.
LOST AND FOUND
Two days after being reported missing, a photograph showed Katherine Jackson (second from left, next to daughter Rebbie) in Arizona on July 23. The siblings said, “We’re going to protect our mother no matter what.” Top: her Calabasas, Calif., home.
SLY SAYS GOODBYE
A heartbroken Sylvester Stallone, 66, and other family members bid farewell July 21 to his son Sage, 36, who was found dead July 13 in his Los Angeles home (final toxicology results could take several weeks). Investigators say they found large, empty prescription bottles at the scene. Friends claim Sage, a fan and distributor of obscure horror films, best known for playing Rocky Balboa Jr. at age 14, routinely took pills for anxiety and other problems. Following a private Catholic church service, Sage was buried nearby at Westwood Village Memorial Park cemetery, also the final resting place of Marilyn Monroe.
