Photos from her weeklong beach getaway with new husband Eddie Cibrian in May ignited debate over her noticeably lean frame, including one fan’s Twitter accusation that the country star looked “scary skinny.” Rimes, 28, tells Scoop the “hoopla about my body” has been hurtful. “For someone like me who is healthy, who works hard for my body, it’s very frustrating,” she says. “I work out and take care of myself, and not in an over-obsessive way. People are calling me bulimic or anorexic, and these are real issues and diseases-that I don’t have.” Rimes readily admits she’s lost weight, but attributes it to changes in her workout, diet and health issues: “I eat fruits, vegetables, lean meats and limit refined carbs like white flour,” she says. “I’ll have three or four bites of something I love, like mac and cheese, and I’m good. I don’t need a batch of it.” She also reveals for the first time that she suffers from “serious stomach issues” for which she has sought medical attention. “Getting that under control [in the last six months] helped me become healthier and have more energy,” she says. “I don’t step on a scale or count calories. If my clothes fit and I feel healthy, that’s what I go by.” Rimes’s trainer, Michael Jackson at Equinox in Woodland Hills, Calif., says he tries to help her tune out criticism during their boxing workouts, which sculpted her shoulders, core and legs. “My main concern with her is that she’s toned and healthy. And she is,” says Jackson, who trains with her at least four times a week when she’s home. Rimes also understands she can’t control her critics. “They’ve seen every change in my body-and no one’s ever really happy.” Kate’s Baby Shower!
