Matt and Annette Lauer: ‘WE’RE NOT SPLITTING’
Covering the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in February was hard work, says the Today show’s Matt Lauer-not an opportunity to party with two “pretty Canadian broadcasters,” as the National Enquirer reported last week. Though not one to address rumors about his 11-year marriage to wife Annette, 44, a former model, on May 14 Lauer, 52, felt compelled to set the record straight in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. “It’s a work of fiction,” the father of three (Jack, 8, Romy, 6, and Thijs, 3) fumed about the story, which alleged the pair had split, stirred up long-standing rumors of infidelity and claimed he’d moved out of their N.Y.C. apartment. “I have not moved out.” Annette, who filed for divorce in 2006 and withdrew less than a month later, also spoke out. “I want to stand up for my family,” she said angrily. “Has it always been easy? No,” conceded Lauer. “But I don’t think we’re any different than any married couple. This is made up.”

DID SHE TRY TO MAKE IT WORK?
With a divorce filing seeming imminent, it’s hard to believe Elin Nordegren was ever serious about a reconciliation with Tiger Woods. Sources confirm that Woods, 34, knows it’s over. Says a friend: “This is the toughest time of his life. There is absolutely no chance of his marriage surviving.”
