As Romo, 29, enjoys his single status, hanging out with pals in L.A. and Lake Tahoe, Simpson has chosen to “hide out at home” and seek comfort from her parents and sister Ashlee, says another family source. “She’s depressed. They encourage her to go out and have a good time.” Simpson finally took their advice on July 18, when she enjoyed a night out with friends, including BFF CaCee Cobb. (“Love my ladies!!!” she posted on Twitter. “Wish I could be with them every day of my life. Laughter is wonderful.”) Says the Simpson family friend: “Even though she knows this is the right thing, breakups are hard.” Chris Brown Apologizes‘What I Did Was Unacceptable’ Five months after assaulting RIHANNA, CHRIS BROWN issued a two-minute apology on his Web site July 20: “I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry that I wasn’t able to handle the situation both differently and better.” Until his Aug. 5 sentencing, the R&B singer, 20, is not allowed to contact or come within 50 yards of Rihanna, 21. On June 22 he accepted a plea bargain that spared him jail time; instead he will be sentenced to five years’ probation, six months’ community labor, fines and domestic abuse classes. “What I did was unacceptable 100 percent,” he went on to say. “I can only ask and pray that you forgive me—please.” RUMOR PATROL IS ASHLEY OLSEN ENGAGED?
