10 QUESTIONS for Martina McBride

The singer, 43, who joins Trace Adkins for their Shine All Night tour beginning Nov. 20, reveals her margarita obsession, early musical moments and her dream summer fantasy.

1 The first concert I ever saw was…

Ozzy Osbourne.

2 The song that makes me happy is…

“Air on a G String” by Bach.

3 One day I’d like to see…

the Northern Lights.

4 I think margaritas should be a food group.

5 The most embarrassing thing I’ve said to a fellow celebrity was…

introducing them by the wrong name! It was a totally embarrassing slip of the tongue and, no, I’m not going to give details!

6 My favorite movie is…

Moulin Rouge. It always inspires me.

7 My favorite on-the-road pit stop is…

a 24-hour grocery store late at night. Especially fun after a couple of margaritas!

8 My favorite DVD is…

Gilmore Girls: The Complete Series.

9 I’d pay $500 to meet…

Bobbie Gentry, so I could ask her the real story behind “Ode to Billie Joe.” I’d keep it a secret, of course!

10 I dream about…

living in Napa Valley for a whole summer and ending it by renewing my wedding vows and having a big party for our closest friends; going back to Italy; taking a ride on the Orient-Express; having a Tilt-a-Whirl in my backyard.

I WAS IN A VIDEO!

All that wine Blake Shelton is swigging in his “Hillbilly Bone” video? “Welch’s grape juice,” says Nashville actor Brian Bailey, who sipped as a fellow diner in the Sept. 23 shoot at Nashville’s Stock-Yard Restaurant. But Shelton and Trace Adkins did “cut up a little bit on set,” he says. “Trace ate a flower off the centerpiece on his table.”

Husband and wife Can You Duet champs Meghan Linsey, 23, and Joshua Scott Jones, 29, will release their debut album next year. Here are three reasons to give them a listen now:

1. THEY’RE FUN: “We’re both outgoing. We sing karaoke,” says Linsey. “Josh likes to do ‘Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves’ by Cher. I rap to a little Salt-N-Pepa.”

DEALS

Brad Paisley will coproduce a CW show tentatively titled Nashville with Star Trek pal Zachary Quinto. The drama will focus on a young female singer and a male songwriter. Says Paisley: “I’m very excited to portray the country music world of my favorite town, Nashville.” The singer will periodically appear on the show as himself and says other Nashville artists will guest star as well.

Eddie Montgomery is getting into the restaurant business, opening the Eddie Montgomery Steakhouse later this year in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

Gretchen Wilson has launched her own record label, Redneck Records. As president of the label, Wilson will help oversee all of the company’s operations.

Tim McGraw will star opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in an as-yet-untitled film that begins shooting in Nashville in January.

I DO

Lucinda Williams tied the knot with her manager, Tom Overby, during her kickoff concert in Minneapolis Sept. 18. Williams borrowed the idea from one of her heroes, Hank Williams, who married his second wife onstage in New Orleans in 1952. “He is Midwestern, steady and sweet and loves her to death,” says a close friend of the bride’s.

ENGAGED!

Eli Young Band lead singer Mike Eli proposed to girlfriend of six years Kacey Jann Herndon on Sept. 22. Eli, who actually designed the ring himself, worried his big surprise would be blown when the package containing the bauble arrived via express mail: “I prayed that Kacey wouldn’t answer the door and accidentally see her ring. I told her that FedEx was coming to deliver my taxes!”

DEANA CARTER WEDS!

“Strawberry Wine” singer Deana Carter, 32, and carpenter Brandon Malone, 33, exchanged vows in front of friends and family at an intimate sunset ceremony on the beach at Leo Carillo State Park in Malibu Oct. 3. The couple married in front of a wooden cross in the sand, built by Malone, and had their two children (from previous relationships) as attendants.
