Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant |

Arriving 10 years later, Wyclef Jean’s sixth solo studio disc is a sequel to his very first post-Fugees album, 1997’s Wyclef Jean Presents the Carnival Featuring Refugee Allstars. And the ever-eclectic Jean has assembled a truly all-star cast this time around, including Mary J. Blige, Norah Jones, Shakira, Akon and T.I. The result? An ambitious, sprawling set that, even when it misses the mark, captures the spirit of a one-world party. The Haitian-born Jean carries the flag for his fellow immigrants while creating a musical melting pot, with Caribbean, Indian and Latin sounds uniting with pop, rock and hip-hop to defy genres and geography.
