In the movie you ward off zombies with Brad Pitt. How are your real-life survival skills?
I have a black belt in tae kwon do, so I know how to spar, kick and punch. It took me four years to get through the tests. I fell completely in love with it.
You also play a fiercely protective mom. Can you relate?
Since having my daughter [Vesper, 2, with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor Alan Ruck], my protective instincts have gone way up. I’d risk my life for my family.
What was it like working with Brad?
He’s as normal as any guy you can meet, and he’s such a natural at being a dad. He would bring games, tell funny stories and do magic tricks for the girls who play our daughters. Brad also started a swearing jar. If anybody swore around the kids, they had to put a pound in the jar. Those kids went home rich.
