Cliff Richard

The British pop-rock veteran’s albums always seem to sparkle with meticulously clear sentiments. Much of the credit must go to collaborator Alan Tarney; he produced the album, sang harmonies, wrote or co-wrote five songs, played nearly all the instruments and arranged the music. The best songs are the title track and Once in a While, which recalls We Don’t Talk Anymore, the giant hit that propelled Richard to stardom here two years ago. Some of Richard’s music may seem formulaic and, in a way, too precise and packaged; adventuresome he isn’t. Enjoyable he is.
