Filmed in Portland, Oreg. using local performers and children, this sing-along featuring such kids’ tunes as I’m a Little Teapot and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star has a clunky appeal. The plot involves a couple of stuffed animals who come alive to help a little girl celebrate her birthday. The songs, including The Battle Hymn of the Republic, are woven into the story line and given synthesizer arrangements with mixed success. A pink mouse looks a little like a pig when it becomes a human in a suit, and the pace is slow. The kids are appealing, and the songs are familiar, even in their jazzed-up form. Even preschoolers can join in. (Price/Stern/Sloan, $29.95)
