by Britt Ekland

Sweden’s Britt Ekland was the right sort of import for the feckless pop ’70s. Ex-wife of the late Peter Sellers, Ekland had an illegitimate son by producer Lou Adler and a flaming affair with rock’s Rod Stewart. He and Britt once made love in the back seat of their Mercedes, parked at the time in Goldie Hawn’s driveway. Such revelations fill Ekland’s confessional. Rod, she reveals, “always conscious of his humble beginnings, was grateful to me for filling his life with an appreciation of culture and the arts.” Hmmm. We also read how Britt, now 38, spurned the advances of Lee Majors and Ron Ely while showing more receptivity to Warren Beatty, Ryan O’Neal and George Hamilton. The worst thing that can be said about this autobiography is that it reads as if the actress herself did the writing. (Prentice-Hall, $9.95)
