E! (Sun., Dec. 22, 9 p.m. ET)

This is not to be confused with the big-screen movie currently in production. That one stars Jennifer Lopez as the Tejano singing sensation murdered at 23 by her fan club president and confidant Yolanda Salvidar. The Selena Murder Trial is, rather, a two-hour docudrama, one of a series of specials produced by E!, the folks who brought you the recreated O.J. Simpson civil trial. The murder scene, shot in black and white, is too cheap-looking to have any dramatic impact. But the trial, taken from the transcript, is interesting, if only because of its authenticity. I immensely enjoyed the astonishing summation to the jury by defense attorney Doug Tinker (John Regis). He suggested that Selena would have acquitted her killer. Lawyers can be amusing.
