This three-hour drama seems to be stuck in the stuff. Dennis Weaver plays the 19th-century Maryland doctor (yes, he was an ancestor of newsman Roger Mudd) who was hounded unmercifully and imprisoned after treating Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth. The plot, which is as much fiction as fact, is torturously slow and the acting is often hammy. It was 114 years before Mudd’s name was cleared last August, and viewers may feel they have put in a similar period watching this show.
