HER GRAMMY GENES
I see my dad’s Grammy [Ken Caillat was a producer of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours] every time I go to my parents’ house, and it’s just something that I’m so proud of. And I see the picture they took of him and all the guys onstage, and my dad has long hair and a beard. It’s so funny that I’m following in the same direction.
HER GRAMMY DATE
My dad. He’s really excited about it. He’s been involved with this record and my music career the entire time, so I just knew it would mean a lot to him. He got all teary-eyed when I asked him to be my date. It was so cute. I’m sure when I’m nervous [on Grammy night] he’ll remind me of how great I am. You know how parents are!
HANGING WITH FLEETWOOD MAC
I was around them all the time when I was young. People ask if they gave me advice, but I was too young and wasn’t into music at that age. Now every time Mick [Fleetwood] hears about me, he’ll text my dad like, “Wow, just saw Colbie again. So amazing!”
TEAMING WITH TAYLOR SWIFT
At the time that we wrote [“Breathe,” which is nominated for Best Pop Collaboration], I didn’t really know who she was. I didn’t listen to country music. But she walked into the place where we were [meeting] and gave me a present: a porcelain jar. She’s just really sweet. She’s younger than me, but I really look up to her. It’s amazing how far she’s come.
