It’s hard to be unhappy with such a cheerfully inane Disney film, even when it’s a sequel to an already tired plot. M*A*S*Hs Harry Morgan is still in dubious command at Fort Concho; bungling outlaws Tim Conway and Don Knotts are still failing to terrorize the countryside; and Kenneth Mars, as Sheriff Woolly Bill Hitchcock, is still vaingloriously upholding lawlessness and disorder. Conway and Knotts can do these kinds of pratfalls and double takes in their sleep. But Mars’ excesses of zeal and frustration are what make this passable adult fare instead of just a half-baked kids’ film. (G)
