When the World Comes Down

PUNK-POP

It is unfortunate timing for the All-American Rejects that their third album goes head to head with Fall Out Boy’s Folie à Deux. Next to FOB’s better, more ambitious disc, this relatively been-there-heard-that effort doesn’t stand a chance, sort of like a lightweight taking on a heavyweight. While it may not rock your world, this follow-up to 2005’s double-platinum Move Along is a solid punk-pop outing that delivers on the basics. There are plenty of obvious hooks on songs like the violin-riffed “Fallin’ Apart” as the Rejects make up for craftiness with sheer catchiness.
