Being a full-time vampire has driven a stake through the heart of David Boreanaz’s golf game. After spending 14 hours a day on the set of his new WB series Angel, a Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, Boreanaz says he took a rare day off, only to find that his clubs were cursed. “I went golfing last week and shot nine holes and I was all over the course,” he laments.
But on the set, he’s dead and loving it. Angel, a sexy fellow who roams around L.A. looking pretty good for a 244-year-old, is a fangtastic role, says the 30-year-old Philadelphia-reared actor. “Angel is trying to atone for [the evil] he’s done in the past,” he adds. “Los Angeles is a great environment [for him] because everyone here is lost, just looking for themselves.”
Not Boreanaz, who lives in L.A. with his wife, Ingrid, 31, a social worker. He says he has no worries about the pressures of stardom. “I’m not out to please anybody,” he explains. And he has yet to see the Angel action figure that’s hitting toy stores this fall. “I laugh at these things,” he says. “You have to have a sense of humor to keep your head above water, especially in this business.” Not to mention on the golf course.
