The Jackson 5

Soulsation! takes us back to the Jacksonmania of the early 1970s, when the brothers from Gary, Ind., topped charts and had their young mugs plastered on teen mags and cereal boxes. And who can forget that Saturday-morning TV cartoon? Well, okay, but you will remember many of the songs (a whopping 82 of them) in this four-CD retrospective of the Jackson 5. Just try to sit still during classics like “I Want You Back,” “ABC” and “The Love You Save” or those slower burners “I’ll Be There” and “Never Can Say Goodbye”—all featuring the dynamic, soul-shoutin’ Michael. It makes one long for more innocent days, when the quirkiest thing about Michael was that he’d won an Oscar nomination for his rodent ode “Ben.” (Motown)
