Disney (Sun., Aug. 5, 9 P.M. ET)

Hard to believe two years have passed since the last Olympic games. But all the pomp, pageantry and pizzazz are captured here in this moving documentary that, to borrow from the old ABC bromide, treats the viewer to an “up close and personal” look.

Veteran Olympic filmmaker Bud Greenspan outdoes himself with this gold medal-worthy effort. No one is wiser than Bud when it comes to where to put the camera during a sporting event. Pick a great moment, it’s here: the memorable (Greg Louganis winning the gold medal on his last dive; the little-known (kayaker Greg Barton winning by a hair); the tragic (Canadian Ben Johnson’s steroid disqualification); the poignant (Irish runner Eamonn Coghlan losing big but refusing to drop out).

Thanks. Bud; this one’s for us.
