>Live Nation’s Arthur Fogel, 60, the man behind many mega tours, shares some backstage dish.
What have been your career highlights?
The success of the U2 360° tour. And the Police reunion tour in 2007 and 2008 was incredible because I never thought it would happen.
A tour with Guns N’ Roses in 2002. Axl [Rose] didn’t show up to a show, and there was a riot. That was the end of that for me. It shouldn’t be about life and death.
How has touring changed over the years?
Shows are much more physically demanding now, and we’re flying everywhere, so artists are taking good care of themselves out of necessity.
So less sex and drugs, and more health food?
Well, I don’t have cameras everywhere, but generally, yes!
