Another true story inspired this movie, but in the beginning of this one, the screen warns that “you may not believe it.” Tuesday Weld is a divorced antiques dealer seduced by a con man (Peter Coyote) who marries her and then swindles Weld and her mother out of everything they own. Keith (Chiefs) Carradine, another business victim, joins forces—and later libidos—with Weld as they search for the bad guy before he marries again (he took at least 82 women to the altar while taking them to the cleaners). It’s a bit unbelievable that Tuesday Weld—who’s getting on toward Thursday but certainly not looking it—would fall for such a con man, a guy who writes poetry like this: “Just a few days ago, my life was barren/And then I met you, my lovely Sharon.” But she and Carradine the good guy make a fun couple, and the story they play out is interesting enough to keep you tuned in for two hours.
