No gleaming, streamlined trailers are included in this idea-packed picture book. These are real mobile homes. Start with an old truck or bus, raise or install a roof and add wood stoves, showers, paneling, Victorian trim, French doors and/ or lots of stained glass. If on the outside these machines for living appear grotesque, with their shingles and stovepipes, the interiors are cosy and inviting. “Logan and Debby use their back porch to store skis, bicycles and other equipment. It converts to a sitting porch when the tailgate is lowered…” Old Logan is sitting there in his rocking chair. Oh, for the gypsy life. (A&W, $14.95)
