Simmons’ chirpy, twerpy enthusiasm does have its ingratiating side. So what if most people would promise to love you forever with less passion than he puts into a “Good morning”? His attitude is perfect for this exercise tape designed for the handicapped. Simmons begins the 40-minute tape with a brief discussion of good nutrition (he announces that six jelly beans equal one portion). There’s a section of exercises for the wheelchair bound; one of Simmons’ demonstrators has lost a leg and another has muscular dystrophy. There is also a manageable workout for handicapped children. Periodically, such celebrities as Linda Evans, Cybill Shepherd, Jane Fonda, Ann-Margret, Alex Karras and Pat Boone pop on camera to utter gratuitous you-can-do-it comments. Overall, though, Simmons provides a nice balance, urging people to work out however they can while not overtaxing them. (Like all fitness tapes, of course, this should not be used by people with medical problems until they have consulted a doctor.) (Karl-Lorimar, $14.95)
