How are you? I remember you mentioning that you don’t get asked that enough!
I’m really wonderful. I’m feeling very creative and happy. I’ve been preparing the Born This Way Ball [tour]. I like working all the time.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I just want people to remember that I was brave.
You’ve written songs about body parts like eyes, teeth and hair. What’s the next one?
Perhaps my feet. They carry me everywhere! I like to take simple ideas and turn them into a pop song meaning something completely different.
What is the biggest “wow” moment you have ever had?
In Japan I received a rose from the prime minister which had been grown in the color teal to match my hair and the Valentino jacket I had worn when I arrived. It reminded me how much my fans matter to me. We’ve been trying to have it glassified.
If you could have dinner with anyone (living or dead), who would you choose?
Mary Magdalene. I’d go back in time, bring her to the future and take her for sushi.
What do you keep in your purse at all times?
I borrowed my friend’s the other day, and when she got it back, it had a red Ruby Woo lipstick, fake fingernails, a light-up unicorn and perfume. And she said, “Only you would leave that!”
What’s your vision of you at 40?
Well, I suppose I’ll have some babies by then. I don’t know—I don’t know what I’m even doing this afternoon!
