Eddie Money

Nobody will ever compare Money with Paul McCartney or Cole Porter. Yet he does turn out an honest variety of rock’n’roll, especially for someone who lists At the Hop as one of his all-time favorite tunes. Most of the material on this LP was written by Money and his band members, though there’s also a nice reggae-ish song, Running Back, by Rad Bryan of Toots and the Maytals. Money duets effectively with Valerie Carter on the easygoing but sensuous Let’s Be Lovers Again, and his Nobody Knows includes the felicitous line “Does he really know how well I know you too?” While Money says that he wanted a harder edge on this album than on his previous Life for the Taking—”I’m tired of trying not to give housewives headaches”—this is still basic, mainstream rock and won’t cause any boom in the aspirin business.
