Tim Weisberg

Even songwriters as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Sergio Mendes and Marvin Gaye cannot keep this California flutist from blenderizing his material into a jazzy concoction that has more froth than punch. Weisberg, who last worked with Dan Fogelberg on the successful Twin Sons of Different Mothers, debuts here on MCA, his fourth record label in nine years. Apart from some interesting sounds with a flute synthesizer in Katie, the opening cut, much of this album lapses into a cheery repetition of motifs that isn’t likely to leave listeners talking about what a swell party this is.
