Israel’s dramatic 1976 rescue at Entebbe has already been portrayed in two American TV movies, but this full-length Israeli feature is the best version yet. Huge troop planes fly in low, commandos rush to free the hostages and the terrorist kidnappers are gunned down in their tracks. The film takes a hard pro-Israel stance—not surprising, since most of the cast are Israelis and their government cooperated fully in its making. Twelve of the original 91 hostages play themselves, and the best moment comes when they re-create the tumultuous reunion with their families after being flown home. (PG)
