One Hour Photo Robin Williams is magnificently creepy as a photo developer who becomes obsessed with a family whose pictures he processes. (R)

Possession Cupid’s arrows zing two couples, one contemporary scholars (Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart) and the other Victorian poets (Jeremy Northam and Jennifer Ehle), in a literate love story. (PG-13)

Signs Are there aliens among us? That’s what a farmer (Mel Gibson) has to figure out in writer-director M. Night Shyamalan’s latest thriller, which has less on its mind than it thinks it does. (PG-13)

Swimming A shy teen (Six Feet Under‘s Lauren Ambrose) learns to stand up for herself and explores her sexuality in an evocative coming-of-age film set in a Carollna beach town. Beautifully observed. (Not rated)
