Dragonfly Kevin Costner loses his wife (or does he?) in a laughably awful supernatural thriller. (PG-13)

40 Days and 40 Nights Tormented over a breakup, Josh Hartnett gives up sex for Lent, leading to still more torment. Celibacy shouldn’t be an excuse for such idiocy. (R)

Monsoon Wedding This bewitching, sprawling romantic comedy—about an arranged marriage set to be celebrated in New Delhi—pays tribute to both India’s fanciful Bollywood musicals and the ensemble films of Robert Altman.(R)

We Were Soldiers Mel Gibson brings his jut-jawed Braveheart heroics to Vietnam as Lt. Col. Harold Moore, who led American forces in the four-day Battle of la Drang in 1965. The war scenes, as grisly as those in Black Hawk Down, are both repetitive and confusing. (R)
