>NEVER MIND: ALWAYS Steven Spielberg directed this update of the 1943 film A Guy Named Joe, in which spencer tracy ,a pilot killed in as crash, returns to benignly haunt Van Johnson. Here, Richard Dreyfuss is a dead flier (of fire-fighting planes) who haunts hunky Brad Johnson; both lust after Holly Hunter. While it’s full of attractive images, the film seems silly. You want to tell Dreyfuss to get a life. (MCA)

ZAPPY ENDING: THE WIZARD Fred Savage is likable as a boy whose mute half-brother, Luke Edwards, is a natural at video games. They end up at a tournament featuring a seminasty foe for Edwards and a satisfying finale. (MCA)
