The Sex Pistols

This debut release by England’s most-hyped New Wave band is Johnny Rotten to the core. Lead singer Rotten and bassist Sid Vicious have helped foment something of a social upheaval in England with their nihilistic brand of rock, including the No. 1 U.K. single God Save the Queen. The Sex Pistols may be taking aim at class injustice, but their ammunition is little more than senseless noise. The punk philosophy is that nothing is of value. In the case of this album, they’re right.
