NBC (9-11 p.m. ET)

In an often compelling four-hour melodrama about a sensational murder case (the same one author Tommy Thompson wrote about in Blood and Money), Farrah Fawcett dares to look occasionally drab in an effective TV comeback as a Houston socialite who dies mysteriously. Sam Elliott is cast as her husband, and Katharine Ross (they’re offscreen squeezes, too) plays his increasingly suspicious second wife. The real show stealer, though, is Andy Griffith as Farrah’s vengeful millionaire oilman father. The conclusion airs same time tomorrow.
