We know she isn’t Lisa. Now, on this collection of her own country, gospel and blues songs, Jessi makes clear she isn’t Mahalia or Bessie. (She isn’t Jessi either; Miriam is her real name. The album is dedicated to her late mother, Mirriam with two r’s.) She is also Mrs. Waylon Jennings, and the best track here is the upbeat There Ain’t No Rain, on which Jennings’ band inspires a drive Colter’s pleasant but unexceptional voice usually lacks.
