It’s two…two…two shows in one. In this often intriguing new series, each episode deals with a torn-from-the-tabloids crime in New York City. The first half hour is devoted to the police investigation; the second follows the case through the court system.

The cop portion is a uniquely paced and plotted police procedural, with George Dzundza presenting a refreshingly different detective from the chiseled chins we’re used to on TV. Once the lawyers get involved, the drama becomes slightly less involving. Michael Moriarty, the prosecutor, is a fine actor, but he plays this one too laid-back. The show will eventually nestle into its regular spot on Tuesdays at 10.
