Starland Vocal Band
This quartet is still looking for a follow-up to their 1976 hit, Afternoon Delight, but they’re not going to find it this way. The production of the album is an embarrassment to them and an insult to the paying public; their soft, close harmonies blur into the backup orchestra. That means the most enjoyable cuts are the simplest—notably Bill Danoff’s solo on his own tune, Write Your Life. Those bothered by artists not living up to their potential might be tempted to turn this disc into a Frisbee.
