Kristin Scott Thomas, Elsa Zylberstein

Wearing no makeup and clad in a shapeless jacket—as she looks here the first time she’s glimpsed at an airport terminal—Thomas is still arrestingly beautiful. You want to know her story, which turns out to be a stunningly complicated yet moving one in I’ve Loved You So Long. In this absorbing French drama (with English subtitles), Thomas plays a woman who, after 15 years in prison for a horrific crime, reluctantly moves in with her younger sister (Zylberstein). Portraying a character slow to trust and even slower to part with her secrets, Thomas gives a heartbreaking, subtle performance that leaves a radiant afterglow.
