Marin County, just north of San Francisco, is California’s wealthiest area not only in terms of money but in terms of nutcakes as well. It is the home of hot-tub soakers, encounter groupers and psycho-babblers whose affluent good life is not entirely fey play. It also has one of the highest levels of alcoholism, probably more therapists per capita than anywhere else in America and a suicide rate twice the national average. This documentary shows that if Marin is at the end of the American rainbow, the pot may be filled not with gold but with martinis and Valium.
