>Showtime’s Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall as a serial killer with the sad-boy allure of Peter Pan and superb carving skills, ends Sept. 22 after eight seasons. It’s time. Dexter had a great run—season 4, with John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer, was one of the most suspenseful things I’ve seen—but by now Dex has (rather improbably) developed an almost normal sense of moral accountability. If you want to be fully human, Dex, turn yourself in. Easy peasy.
