NBC (Man., Feb. 24, 9 P.M. ET)
This atrocious miniseries takes more explaining than it’s worth, but because a busy plot is its only potential asset, here goes: Corbin (L.A. Law) Bernsen is a small town lawyer appointed to defend a young white man accused of murdering a black girl. Bernsen is also the chief of staff for Georgia’s senior Senator (Henry Jones) and is carrying on a romance with a CIA administrator (Mel Harris, in her second miniseries of the month). When the Senator falls ill. Bernsen decides to run for the seat himself. Then there’s a white supremacist group running around, with an enforcer (John Glover) who himself is being chased by a former cop, Family Matter’s Reginald VelJohnson.
This drama has a lot of plates spinning, but not one is remotely interesting. If anyone tunes in for Tuesday’s conclusion, NBC should send them a T-shirt that reads: BORED TO TEARS: I SURVIVED GRASS ROOTS.
