Like an army of sergeants or a corporation of vice-presidents, here is a movie of supporting actors, a show starring co-stars. Scott (Family Ties) Valentine and Michele (L.A. Law) Greene play newlyweds at a wedding from purgatory with Cloris (The Facts of Life) Leachman as the mean mother of the groom, Eileen (Private Benjamin) Brennan as the poor mother of the bride and Mark (Perfect Strangers) Linn-Baker as the best man—and lots of guests: John (Cheers) Ratzenberger, Barbara (Leave It to Beaver) Billingsley, Wendy (North and South) Kilboume, Michael (Miami Vice) Talbott, Max (Alf) Wright and Dick (Eight Is Enough) Van Patten. The overdose of italics in the sentences above is far more exciting than anything in this flick. Being a stranger at any wedding is boring. At this one, we’re all strangers—and we don’t even get to eat the cheese puffs.
