It’s 1882 and a starchy New York City optometrist (Judge Reinhold) moves to Tombstone, Ariz., with dime-novel dreams of frontier heroism. But he is soon stripped of both possessions and illusions. One thing in his favor: If he contorts his body like a pretzel, he’s a crack shot.

This is the type of comedy that would have been funny with Don Knotts in the lead. Of course, then it would have been sillier, and we wouldn’t have had to put up with Reinhold’s posturing. Even Fred Ward as Wyatt Earp gets bushwhacked by a florid script.
