Station manager Michael Brandon presides over purist hip Los Angeles radio station QSKY, whose staff includes disc jockeys Martin Mull, Eileen Brennan, Cleavon Little, Cassie Yates and Alex Karras. Everything is laid-back, cool and groovy until the station’s money boys attempt to dilute its “integrity” with some slick Army recruiting spots. It’s not much of a plot but what the movie lacks there it makes up for in fast pacing and wall-to-wall sound track. There’s nothing original—just favorites by folks like Neil Young, the Eagles, Red Foley, and live concert appearances by Jimmy Buffett and Linda Ronstadt, who proves as exciting on camera as she is on record. As Eric Swan, a “creative-radio” deejay who expresses his neuroses on the air, Mull is nearly as funny as on America 2Night. (PG)
