Imagine watching William “the Refrigerator” Perry of the 1985 Chicago Bears trying to flatten Roger Staubach, Hall of Fame QB of the 1977 Dallas Cowboys. A matchup like that is an impossible dream, you say? Not completely. In this innovative series, a computer projects the outcome, and film clips are cleverly intercut to intriguingly create the illusion of a real contest between great NFL teams that never met, inspiring fans to wonder, “What if…?” Tonight, the undefeated’72 Miami Dolphins, featuring Larry Csonka and Bob Griese, take on Broadway Joe Namath’s ’68 New York Jets. This series, produced by Steve Sabol of NFL Films, spells trouble for football widows.
