NBC (Tues., Oct. 16, 8 P.M.ET)
Another muffled tub-thumper from Steel, this one stars D.W. Moffett as a department store exec who marries a teacher (Tracy Pollan) with a child (Noley Thornton). When Pollan dies of cancer, Moffett must battle the evil natural father (Darrell Larson) for his beloved stepdaughter.
This film follows the same trajectory as Kaleidoscope: After a brisk setup, the shaggy dog of a plot (bad things happen to good people) gets taken for a long, long walk. Although this one is blessedly prosaic by Steelian standards, its unwarranted additional length (three hours) makes it average out the same in tedium level.
